Trump: ‘I offer nothing to Iran, I don’t even talk to them’

In an overnight post on Truth Social, the US president criticised Barack Obama for his stance towards Tehran

Newsroom June 30 11:44

Donald Trump said he is not talking to Tehran after US bombers launched an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, stressing that he is not offering the country anything, in contrast to the stance taken by former US President Barack Obama.

In a midnight post on Truth Social, the US president wrote: “I offer Iran NOTHING, unlike Obama who paid them billions of dollars as part of the foolish march toward a joint comprehensive action plan on nuclear weapons (which would now be expired!). I haven’t even spoken to them since we totally DISMANTLED their nuclear facilities.”

On Friday, Trump denied media reports that his administration has discussed helping Iran gain access to capital of up to $30 billion to help it have a nuclear program to produce energy for peaceful purposes.

Υesterday Tehran asked the UN to recognize Israel and the US as responsible for the 12-day war against Iran, which ended on June 24 with the implementation of a ceasefire, according to a letter published today addressed to the UN secretary general.

“We formally request in this letter that the Security Council recognize the Israeli regime and the US as the instigators of the offensive action and acknowledge their subsequent responsibility, including the payment of compensation and reparations,” Iranian diplomatic chief Abbas Araghchi wrote in this letter addressed to Antonio Guterres.
