Irini Mourtzoukou: “I am not to blame for Panagiotakis’ death, his mother is responsible”

Mourtzoukou says that Panagiotakis was the child who gave her the strength to live and overcome her psychological problems - She states that she knows how the child died, but cannot reveal it at this stage

Newsroom July 14 02:44

Irini Mourtzoukou blames Panagiotakis’ mother for his death in the Statement of defense submitted to the interrogator of Achaia before he was taken into custody.

Mourtzoukou says Panagiotakis was the child who gave her the strength to live and overcome her psychological problems: “Panagiotakis gave me the strength to overcome my ‘dark’ (psychiatric/psychotic/physical and not only) problems. He made me find the strength to dream again…”

“He made me find the strength to dream again…

He states that he denies any responsibility for his death, claiming: “I would never hurt him, I would never hurt him for any reason… I state unequivocally that, for his death, I have no responsibility/participation/accomplicity whatsoever.”

In the memo, he accuses Panagiotakis’ mother of attempting to pin the blame on her:
“The above […] all these months has been trying to lead me to take responsibility for the death of her child, but it is impossible for me to “charge’ the death of the last hope of saving my life, my soul, my existence.”

Mourtzoukou tries to differentiate the case of Panagiotakis from that of the other victims: “The other infants were infants, up to six (6) months old, while Panagiotakis was a big child, aged fifteen (15) months, and the other infants were girls, while Panagiotakis was a boy.” He concludes: “There is no question that Panagiotakis does not fit the pattern of the murders.'”

He also claims that after the child’s death, his mother secretly hosted her in her home: “From the day of Panagiotis’ death (5/8/2024) until June of the year 2025, she secretly hosted me at her home in Amalida, a fact certainly not compatible with the publicly presented image of the outraged (alleged) mother.”

Elsewhere in the memo, she says she is willing to testify fully about the circumstances of the child’s death, as long as there is an official subpoena and a security guarantee: “I cannot and am not permitted at this stage of the proceedings […] to go into the details of the manner, method, cause, etc. of his death, but I am at the disposal of the authorities […] to disclose everything.”

The most serious point of the memo is that a “catalyst” in the case is a third person, who is currently unnamed: “Another person has also played a catalytic role, whose name I will reveal only to the competent prosecution / investigative authorities […] since I receive constant and intense threats to my life and physical integrity.”

Irini Mourtzoukou finally states that she is at the disposal of the authorities for a complete clarification of the case, in order “not to leave the slightest point of this tragic story in the dark”.
