One poll shows majority support for gov’t policy statements

Majority of Greeks give to new government "vote of confidence"

Newsroom February 10 07:08

A fresh post-election opinion poll reportedly shows hefty support for Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras policy statements, made on Sunday.

According to a poll conducted by the firm ALCO for the leftist Athens satirical weekly “Pontiki”, 67% of respondents said the policy statements were positive or very positive, 9% negative or very negative, 19% of respondents answered they were indifferent, while 6% did not even respond.

When respondents were asked if they would give a vote of confidence to the new government or not, 59% said “Yes”, 34% said “No” and 7% did not respond.

What’s even more noteworthy, according to the poll results, is the fact that 60% of Golden Dawn voters, 57% of PASOK, 53% of POTAMI and 48% of KKE would give a vote of confidence to the new government.
By contrast, 81% of New Democracy voters are against.

One question that wasn’t asked is if the respondents watched the televised address by Tsipras.
