A veil of mystery has been cast over the beach at Ofrinos in Kavala after the sudden disappearance of 59-year-old British tourist Michele Ann Joy Bourda. The woman had arrived in the area for a short holiday with her husband, who is a Greek national, and was staying in a house in a village in Serres.
Her traces disappeared at noon on Friday (1/8) at the beach of Ofrinio when the woman disappeared from her deckchair while her husband was sleeping. When he woke up, his wife was nowhere to be found. The 59-year-old woman’s husband is upset about his wife’s fate as she had reportedly disappeared in London in 2020 on the occasion of being sacked from her job and was subsequently traced by police officers. He is worried about his wife’s health because she is facing some problems and hopes his wife will be found soon.
The news of the British tourist’s disappearance has upset the local community and the media in Britain. The authorities were immediately mobilized from the first moment, carrying out searches with the participation of the Coast Guard, police and volunteers, but no trace of her has been found.
Those who were nearby at the beach at the time have been unable to provide any substantial information in the case of the 59-year-old woman’s disappearance. Some claim that she was seen swimming in the deep waters of the sea and others that she was seen walking away from the spot.
The family’s anxiety is mounting as the days pass and authorities have issued a Silver Alert as they believe her life may be in danger. Extensive crops, houses and a large reservoir surround the beach where she disappeared.
In the Silver Alert, the tourist is described as a 5ft 7in female, slim, with blue eyes and shoulder-length hair. Sources say her personal belongings were found on the beach after she disappeared.
