The authorities were alerted on Friday morning when a fire broke out in an agroforestry area in the Karavados region of Kefalonia. “112” has already sounded, urging those in Karavados, Dorizata and Kerameies to evacuate towards Argostoli.

Strong forces of the Fire Department have rushed to the scene, operating to extinguish the fire, while strong winds are blowing in the area.

28 firefighters are operating in the area with 2 hiking teams of the 16th EMODE, 7 vehicles, volunteers, 4 aircraft and 2 helicopters, while there is assistance from water trucks of OTAs.
