Sophia Loren reveals: I will never forget Hydra

The Italian-French star, now 80 years old, has travelled all around the world.

Newsroom February 15 11:54

Legendary actress Sophia Loren, an Italian sex symbol for many generations of cinephiles, recently opened up about her life and travels around the world, in an interview with the New York Times.

The Naples-born diva, now 80 years old, has traveled all around the world.

“I’ve been to many festivals to show some films that I made. I’ve been in Russia, I’ve been in Asia. I’ve been everywhere,” Loren said to the NYT.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have much time to see the sights: “If you ask me, ‘What did you see?’ I haven’t seen anything because I’ve seen hotels. I’ve seen a lot of people. I’ve seen my films, but I am eager very much to choose, let’s say two weeks, three weeks with my children to go a little bit around and to see like a tourist,” she admitted.

However, when asked if she has any favorite places where she made movies, her answer was prompt: “I did a picture, “The Boy on a Dolphin,” in Greece, in Hydra, one of the most beautiful places in the world. I remember it really with great, great joy. Because, for me, it was a moment of starting in the American cinema and I was starting my romance with my husband, and so I’m attached also for what I discovered in my husband. It was a beautiful, euphoric moment for me. I will never forget Hydra.”
