An incredible discovery was made early Monday morning in Kaisariani, when a passerby alerted the police about weapons and ammunition inside a trash bin on 11 Riga Feraiou Street.

A TEEM (Special Counter-Terrorism Unit) team rushed to the scene and, after a search, found among other items:

• Two release levers from Argès-type hand grenades, rusted
• One defensive hand grenade with a detonator mechanism
• Ten mortar shell heads and various other components
• Ammunition of various calibers
• A disassembled 22mm handgun
• Rusted weapon parts from World War II
• Three revolver frames
• An iron frame from a Thompson submachine gun from the same period
• A frame from a machine gun of unknown type
• Brass knuckles, handcuffs, two collapsible batons, ammunition holders, and gun bolts
• 14 religious icons

The case has been taken over by the Investigative Department of YDEEA, which is examining how and by whom this material ended up in the trash bin.
