Premiere for 24-hour operation of metro, tram, and buses every Saturday

OASA (Athens Urban Transport Organization) is establishing, on a permanent basis, 24-hour service every Saturday for the Metro (Lines 2 and 3), the Tram (Lines T6 and T7), as well as selected bus routes

Newsroom September 13 09:11

Starting today, Saturday, September 13, and every Saturday thereafter, the Athens Metro will operate around the clock.

Additionally, some bus lines and the Tram will also run 24 hours on Saturdays during the busier months.

As Deputy Minister of Transportation Konstantinos Kyranakis mentioned in a recent television interview, public transport employees will receive financial compensation for night shifts, and further hirings will take place.

“All the measures we are taking — policing, new highways, cameras, and 24-hour Saturday service — are aimed at reducing as much as possible the very high number of fatalities on Greek roads,” stated Mr. Kyranakis.

Metro and Tram Service

The 24-hour operation for fixed-track transport applies to Metro Lines 2 and 3, and Tram Lines T6 and T7.
