Concern in Litochoro: Precautionary measures for drinking water after dead horse found in Enipeas Gorge

The horse was found dead at a high altitude, prompting authorities and the municipal water and sewage company of the Dion-Olympus municipality to raise the alarm

Newsroom September 16 09:14

The discovery of a dead horse in the Enipeas Gorge caused alarm in Litochoro. Authorities announced that the water is not safe to drink until further notice, as a precautionary measure, affecting only Litochoro in the Dion-Olympus municipality, according to ERT.

The horse was found dead at a high altitude, which prompted an immediate alert to authorities and the municipal water and sewage company of Dion-Olympus. Citizens were informed not to consume the water for as long as necessary.

The water passes through the area’s pumping station, where it undergoes the usual treatment and chlorination. Additionally, disinfection of the water has begun so that local authorities can ensure it is safe for consumption. Until then, residents are advised not to use the water and will be updated when the authorities confirm its safety.
