The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it has begun preparations for a partial withdrawal of its troops from the Gaza Strip as part of a ceasefire agreement and hostage exchange with Hamas.
In a statement, the army said that “in accordance with the instructions of the civilian leadership and based on an assessment of the situation, the IDF has begun operational preparations to implement the agreement.”
As part of these preparations, the army says it is preparing to move forces to “adapted deployment lines in the near future.”
“The IDF continues to remain deployed in the region and is preparing for any possible operational development,” the statement adds.
