With EKAM the searches for Vorizia: They are searching on Psiloritis for the weapons of the killing – The 9-day memorial services were not held, the village priest asked for “peace”

They are also looking for two members of the Frangiadakis family – schools open tomorrow, five of the seven arrested will testify

Newsroom November 9 04:20

ELAS’ investigations in Vorizia and the wider area remain in full progress, looking for evidence that will lead to the full clarification of the case which left behind two dead and “inflamed” passions.

It is indicative that, as ERT reported, an EKAM team carried out a search Sunday morning on Psiloritis in the context of searching for the weapons that those involved in the bloody incident used.

According to the same information, police are also searching for two members of the Frangiadakis family on the mountain — firstly to take their testimony (as they do not appear to be involved in the shootings but be eyewitnesses), and secondly to protect them from the new round of hatred that has prevailed in the area.

At the same time even though today marks 9 days since the deadly exchange of gunfire in Vorizia, memorial services were not held by either family — neither for 39-year-old Fanouris Kargakis nor for 56-year-old Evangelia Frangiadaki.

For his part, the village priest in his sermon called on his fellow villagers to have prudence and calm. “Let peace prevail over violence. We call on you all to walk together with self-criticism and self-restraint, to walk the struggle of life peacefully,” said priest Ioannis Giannoulakis.

However tomorrow, Monday, schools in Vorizia will reopen for the first time after the massacre, marking the effort to return to normality. At the same time, according to an announcement of the Ministry of Education, psychologists and social workers will arrive in the area and will remain in Vorizia for 15 days to support the school community and contribute to the smooth reintegration of children and teachers into their daily lives.

Also tomorrow, the son-in-law of Fanouris Kargakis — who was recorded in video firing a Kalashnikov on the fatal Saturday — is expected to testify, as well as the four Frangiadakis siblings who have been arrested in the case.

It is reminded that two members of the Frangiadakis family have already been ordered held in pre-trial detention: the 25-year-old brother of the 27-year-old owner of the house where the explosion occurred, as well as a 30-year-old cousin.
