The Paris Court of Appeal ordered at noon on Monday the release of Nicolas Sarkozy, after the completion of the hearing of the former President of the French Republic.

Sarkozy, who during the hearing described life in prison as a “nightmare”, will be under judicial supervision.

In addition, the court banned Sarkozy from having any communication with the Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin.

According to information, Sarkozy will leave the Sante prison in the center of the French capital within the day.

Earlier, the prosecutor had proposed to the Paris Court of Appeal the release of the former President of France.

According to the prosecutor’s reasoning, Damien Briné, “the exceptional seriousness of the facts and the severity of the sentence must not be taken into account. Only the criteria of article 144 (of the Code of Criminal Procedure) matter.”

As prosecutor Damien Briné explained, the risks of coordinating with potential accomplices or exerting pressure on witnesses “support the request that (Sarkozy) be placed under judicial supervision.”
