A 40-year-old foreign national was arrested on Sunday afternoon (16/11) as he attempted to smuggle cocaine into Greece through Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos.”
Specifically, during targeted checks, the 40-year-old was identified and his criminal activity was verified.
Officers from the Athens Airport Drug Enforcement Unit determined that the man, arriving from a foreign country, was carrying cocaine in five improvised oval-shaped packages with a total gross weight of 58 grams, which he had concealed inside a body cavity.
In addition, €200 and a mobile phone were found and confiscated.
The detainee, who has previously come to police attention for other offenses, was taken before the competent Prosecutor.
