A volcano in Ethiopia erupted for the first time in 10,000 years, spewing a massive column of ash. Specifically, the Haile Gubi volcano “awoke” today, with the ash ejected by the eruption reaching a height exceeding ten kilometers.

In a video circulating online, the moment can be seen from a distance as a huge cloud of ash shoots into the sky, while residents of the area run to witness the impressive spectacle.

Equally striking is another video recorded by a satellite in space, showing the exact moment of the eruption.

It is noted that the volcano is located in the remote Danakil region, where the eruption was initially confirmed through satellite data.

Analysts who were continuously monitoring the phenomenon reported a massive ash plume. Since then, the cloud has been moving east over the Red Sea, affecting parts of southwestern Arabia, including Yemen and Oman.
