Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) deputies and MEPs as well as other opposition parties called for disciplinary action against commandos of Greece’s elite Underwater Demolition Teams (OYK) following their nationalistic slogans during the March 25 military parade in downtown Athens.

SYRIZA deputy Vassiliki Katrivanou and MEP Dimitris Papadimoulis were quick to make their displeasure known on social media.

On Facebook, Katrivanou wrote: “The OYK slogans at the 25.3 parade are a direct provocation against democracy. I heard of the OYK slogans at yesterday’s parade. It appears extremely concerning and unacceptable that they are not being punished. Is it possible?”

On his part, Papadimoulis’ wrote, “OYK’s nationalistic slogans at the parade are against the set foreign policy of Greeks. The government is obliged to put an end to this.”
