Migrants were located on Farmakonisi by officers of the Hellenic Coast Guard. The operation followed an alert from the Leros Coast Guard, after which land searches were carried out.

Members of the Coast Guard’s special operations unit located 19 men, 15 women, and six minors.

The migrants were transported by a Frontex vessel and a Coast Guard patrol boat to the port of Agia Marina on Leros and subsequently to a closed, controlled facility.

A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Leros Port Authority.
