A free musical-theatrical adaptation of The Little Prince, the literary hero who has left an indelible mark on the hearts of countless children, will be presented by Giannis Aggelakas from March 12 to April 25 at the Onassis Cultural Centre.

The performance, with music composition and artistic direction by Giannis Aggelakas, is titled The Blues of the Little Prince: Once You Step on Earth, You Have Grown Up. It is based on the text by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, translated by Stratis Tsirkas, and directed by Giorgos Gousis.

The leading figure of the Greek rock scene returns after Nekyia with a new performance-experience—an electrifying ode to the prince we all once loved, under the direction of the award-winning creator of Magnetika Pedhia.

The Little Prince has haunted Aggelakas since his adolescence. A book he kept on his bookshelf with the cover always facing outward—to remember, to never forget that “all grown-ups were once children… but few remember.” As he says: “A world displaced from its childhood is lifeless, terrifying, and ominous.”

Like a blues, a long pulse—sometimes melancholic, sometimes triumphant—paying tribute to Pavlos Sidiropoulos and his emblematic album The Blues of the Prince, Aggelakas envisioned the stage adaptation of the famous 1943 book. Like an electromagnetic wave of words, music, and songs, it traverses soul and body, portraying earthly wars, interplanetary travels, the Pilot and the Little Prince, the musicians and performers on stage, and the audience.

Aggelakas stars alongside narrators Nadia Baibá, Eirini Bountali, and Nikolas Papoulias, with live music by Coti K., Nikos Yousef, Periklis Tsoukalas, and Konstantinos Zambos, and direction by Giorgos Gousis. The stage becomes a universe made of words and thoughts that sparkle with light in a performance celebrating life, love, and friendship. After all, we all now know: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.”

Ticket pre-sales begin Thursday, February 19.
