Greece has successfully repatriated 162 citizens and their family members from the Middle East as tensions and hostilities continue to escalate in the region. According to an announcement by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first evacuation operations were completed on Tuesday and Wednesday under the coordination of the country’s diplomatic missions and the direction of the foreign minister.

The repatriation effort involved multiple coordinated routes across several countries. A total of 93 Greek citizens and their relatives were transported from Oman on a special flight operated by Aegean Airlines. The operation was organized with the support of Greek embassies in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, ensuring the safe transfer of passengers back to Europe.

Another group of 42 Greek citizens was escorted overland from Bethlehem to Egypt with the assistance of the Greek Consulate in Jerusalem. In a separate evacuation, 27 members of a youth sports team from Aris Thessaloniki were flown from the United Arab Emirates to Istanbul before continuing by road to Thessaloniki under the supervision of the Greek Consulate in Istanbul.

Greek authorities confirmed that evacuation operations are ongoing as the situation in the broader Middle East remains unstable. The Foreign Ministry stated that it remains on full alert and ready to assist any Greek citizens affected by the conflict, emphasizing that diplomatic services and emergency mechanisms remain active across the region to ensure their safety.
