Central Tel Aviv appears to be coming under increasingly intense pressure on the 16th day of the war. Shortly after 1:00 p.m., air defenses in central Israel were activated once again, but as the protothema.gr video shows, they were not enough to prevent the strike. The hit occurred in the heart of Tel Aviv, very close to the central market and the major hotels of the Israeli metropolis.
Watch the video:
As on most occasions when we hear the warning sirens, we try to cover them, especially during the day, from open spaces, and one such place is the rooftop of the hotel in central Tel Aviv where we are staying. At the first sound of the siren, streets and shops emptied, and we were left alone to cover the interceptions. This time, the difference was in the whistling sound made by the missile, or one of its fragments, as it rapidly approached the ground — this time it was very close to where we were. The sound of the impact also reached our ears immediately, an indication of how close the strike was.
Missile fragment at US consular residence in Jerusalem
In Jerusalem, a fragment from an Iranian missile struck a residential building used by the US consul in Israel, Israeli media reported today.
Two men, around 50 years old, were lightly injured in Iran’s latest ballistic missile attack on Israel, according to The Times of Israel.
The newspaper reports that one missile, carrying a submunitions warhead, released them over the city of Eilat in the south and over central Israel.
Earlier, local authorities in Eilat had told the newspaper that an Iranian ballistic missile with a submunitions warhead had been intercepted by Israeli air defenses over the city.
