Sydney Sweeney: A well-known director sees the actress as the next James Bond – “She would make a good spy,” he says

The well-known director Paul Feig sees Sydney Sweeney as the next James Bond, arguing that the actress would be good in a spy role.

The director, who worked with Sweeney on the film The Housemaid, commented that the actress would be ideal to take on the role of 007 in the next movie—not as a Bond girl, but as the super spy himself.

According to Feig, “there have been great Bond girls, but let’s let her be the super spy—she’s exceptional.” He added: “She is one of the most hardworking and professional actresses I know, so smart, so wise. I think she would make a good spy.”

The 28-year-old, who last year had expressed interest in the series after its acquisition by Amazon MGM, had said: “I’ve always been a big fan and I’m excited and curious to see what they’ll do.” When asked whether she would like to play a Bond girl, she replied: “It depends on the script. I think I would have more fun as James Bond.”

It is noted that, to this day, the role of Agent 007 has been male. After Daniel Craig’s departure in 2021, following the film No Time to Die, the search for his successor has intensified, with many names being discussed.

In February 2025, the franchise’s producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, proceeded with the sale of the franchise to Amazon MGM Studios for an amount estimated at around £1 billion, marking the beginning of a new era for the legendary cinematic spy.

According to reports, production is in the preparation stage, with filming scheduled for late autumn and continuing into early winter. At the same time, collaboration with Prime Video may lead to a simultaneous or near-simultaneous release of the film in theaters and on a streaming platform—something that would be an unprecedented step in the franchise’s 64-year history.
