Spain’s Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, today accused Israel of violating international law and the two-week ceasefire reached in the Middle East, following airstrikes carried out yesterday in Lebanon.

Spain has emerged as one of the strongest critics among Western countries regarding the actions of the United States and Israel, closing its airspace to any aircraft involved in a conflict that Madrid describes as reckless and unlawful.

“Yesterday we saw how Israel, disregarding the ceasefire and in violation of international law, dropped hundreds of bombs on Lebanon,” Albares told lawmakers in the lower house.

Spain Reopens Its Embassy in Tehran

Earlier today, Albares announced that Spain is reopening its embassy in Tehran, expressing hope that peace can be achieved in the region.

“I have instructed our ambassador in Tehran to return, resume his post, and reopen our embassy so that we can take part in this effort for peace through every possible channel, even from the Iranian capital itself,” Albares said.
