Rail replacement works and 5G network installation continue on the Athens Metro, with works taking place from today, Tuesday 5 May, on the section “Attiki – Metaxourgeio”, where temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented during night hours.
Specifically, according to an announcement by STASY, from Tuesday 05/05 until Thursday 21/05, the stations “Attiki”, “Larissis Station” and “Metaxourgeio” will close at 21:40 on Sunday to Thursday, 2.5 hours earlier than the scheduled end of service. The “Attiki” station will remain open for Line 1 (ISAP) Kifissia – Piraeus.
Train operations on Line 2 during the works will run between “Anthoupoli–Sepolia” and “Omonoia–Elliniko” stations.
Specifically, the last trains before station closures will depart:
- from SEPOLIA towards ELLINIKO at 21:30
- from ATTIKI towards ELLINIKO at 21:32
- from LARISSIS STATION towards ELLINIKO at 21:33
- from METAXOURGIO towards ELLINIKO at 21:34
- from SYNTAGMA towards ANTHOUPOLI at 21:31
- from OMONOIA towards ANTHOUPOLI at 21:34
- from METAXOURGIO towards ANTHOUPOLI at 21:36
- from LARISSIS STATION towards ANTHOUPOLI at 21:37
- from ATTIKI towards ANTHOUPOLI at 21:39
To serve passengers, OASA will operate a temporary bus line X19 (“Omonoia Metro Station – Agios Antonios Metro Station”) from Sunday to Thursday, from 21:40 until the end of metro service. The line will make the following stops:
Direction Omonoia – Agios Antonios:
“Omonoia Station” (temporary terminus between 3rd September Street and Agiou Konstantinou Street), “Metaxourgeio Station” (existing stop), “Larissis Station” (existing stop), “Kadmou” (existing stop), “Agios Antonios Station” (existing stop)
Direction Agios Antonios – Omonoia:
“Agios Antonios Station” (temporary stop on Ethnarchou Makariou Street), “Kadmou” (existing stop), “Larissis Station towards Syntagma” (temporary stop on Diligianni Street), “PEROKE” (existing stop), “Omonoia Station” (temporary terminus between 3rd September Street and Agiou Konstantinou Street)
“We understand the inconvenience caused to passengers by these traffic arrangements, however they are necessary for the execution of important works that will contribute to improving daily transportation, ” STASY stated.
