As he has done many times in the past, Miltiadis Tentoglou saved the best for last.
The Olympic long jump champion competed at the international meeting held at Tsirio Stadium in Limassol and finished the competition with the best performance in the world this year after jumping 8.49 meters.
The athlete from Grevena cleared 8 meters in his early attempts, but his take-offs were far from the board. After making adjustments following discussions with his coach Georgi Pomashki, he landed at 8.29m on his fourth attempt.
He followed that with 8.19m on his fifth jump, but on his final attempt he truly soared, recording 8.49m.
With that jump, he improved his season-best mark of 8.46m set at the Diamond League Xiamen in Xiamen. The 8.49m jump is also the sixth-best performance of his career.
At the end of the event, he received congratulations from his close friend Emmanouil Karalis.
