The clashes and riots by illegal immigrants that occurred in France after Paris Saint-Germain won the UEFA Champions League have strengthened the popularity of right-wing candidates. This comes from the results of a poll conducted between May 31 and June 2, published today by the French newspaper Le Figaro.
Specifically, in response to the question “which public figure would you like to see play a significant role in the coming months and years,” 47% of respondents named Jordan Bardella, while 40% named Marine Le Pen.
A month earlier, the respective figures were 41% and 36%. Other figures from the French right also saw increases in popularity, including Marion Maréchal, Éric Ciotti, and Robert Ménard.
Regarding other potential candidates for the 2027 presidential election, third and fourth place go to former prime ministers under President Macron, Édouard Philippe (29%) and Gabriel Attal (28%). The center-right potential candidates Bruno Retailleau and Gérald Darmanin are at 24% and 22% respectively, while Raphaël Glucksmann stands at 19%.
