The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, gave an interview to the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia and admitted that when he gets off the Popemobile, the vehicle with a special glass-enclosed room, in order to greet and talk with the believers, he knows that he puts his life at risk, but as he declares, someone at his age has nothing to lose!
The 77-year-old Pope Francis said to the journalist that it is not possible to wave at people through the glass of the vehicle without reaching out to them and telling them that he loves them!
The Pope is the “father” of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics and is the first head of the Catholic Church who gets around on a vehicle that has an open roof. His predecessor, Benedict XVI, used a bulletproof Popemobile, after the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II in 1981.
Pope Francis told the journalist that he saw Popemobile as a “wall” that separates him from the believers and added that his life is “in God’s hands”.
