Delays are expected today, Wednesday, and tomorrow, Thursday, at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”, due to scheduled technical checks by the Civil Aviation Authority on the precision approach systems.
The technical checks, which started on Tuesday 9 June, will continue on Wednesday and Thursday, ( 10 – 11 June ) from 3:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon, and will concern the precision approach radio aids. They will be carried out by a special aircraft and will be a periodic check that is carried out at regular intervals at all airports.
Due to the checks, it is expected that traffic flow in arrivals and departures will be reduced and there will be delays after 3pm, from 45 to 60 minutes, in both departures and arrivals. However, due to the reduction in flow there is likely to be a “domino effect” of delays affecting the overall flight schedule.
