The resignation of Giorgos Didaskalou from his position as Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture has been submitted.
Mr. Didaskalou is a civil engineer by profession and resigned in the context of the urban planning scandal that was recently revealed, for which six arrests have been made.
As government sources state: “Some general secretaries who had been in the same position for many years were considered by the political leadership to have completed their cycle, and they were asked to submit their resignations.”
This is the second resignation of a general secretary related to the same case, following that of the Secretary-General for Spatial Planning at the Ministry of Environment, Efthymios Bakogiannis.
According to information, among the six people arrested for the urban planning corruption network is the brother-in-law of Mr. Bakogiannis, Th. Min. (the sister of the arrested Th. Min. is the wife of Mr. Bakogiannis), who is a Technical Advisor to the Decentralized Administration of Attica.
Also among those arrested is the wife of Th. Min., who is the Secretary-General of the Municipality of Galatsi.
