Love strikes again in Rhodes: “LOVE” carved into the grass in the Medieval City

The creator's identity remains unknown—the message is conveyed solely by the varying heights of the grass

The mystery “Rhodian in love” used the lawn of the Medieval City as a canvas to express his amorous passion. This morning, the island’s parks department was greeted by the romantic view where the mystery love anarchist had left his mark.

This time, the scene was set in the heart of the Medieval Old Town of Rhodes, at a spot that locals refer to as “little bridge.” There, amid the well-tended greenery by the moat, someone meticulously trimmed the lawn so that the grass itself forms, in varying shades, the word “LOVE”. The result is visible from above, from the height of the walls, like a discreet inscription that no one commissioned but everyone stops to look at.

This cannot be classified neither as vandalism nor damage. The lawn remains vibrant and well-tended, with the message emerging solely from the varying heights of the grass, where the lawn mower passed and where it left it untouched, as reported by dimokratiki.gr. The technique required patience, time, and some familiarity with landscaping – a factor that sets this entire project apart from a simple, slapdash intervention.

Something similar had happened before, in the park in front of the Aquarium, where a similar design had appeared on the lawn. The repetition of this motif, in the same spirit and with the same logic, has now created a small “tradition” that residents watch with a smile.

From one spot to the next, the message remains the same. Sometimes a drawing, sometimes a word, but always with the same spirit. The regularity with which these interventions reappear has turned the anonymous creator into a minor local figure, who is the subject of conversation even though no one knows who is behind them.

The identity of the person signing these messages remains unknown. For the parks department, the discovery does not pose a maintenance issue, as the lawn has not been damaged. It is rather a quiet intervention that, rather than being a nuisance, adds an element of tenderness to everyday city life.
