“The demining of the Strait of Hormuz is an operation that will be carried out exclusively by Iran, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington,” Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Garibabadi, in a post on Platform X, responding to a comment by French President Emmanuel Macron on this issue.

“Macron stated earlier that France and Oman are working together to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and will cooperate with their partners to remove mines from the Strait of

“The situation is sensitive and complex; we advise France not to complicate it further with its provocations,” said Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister.

Macron said that Iran is cooperating in the mine clearance operation in the Strait of Hormuz, in coordination with its partners. According to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, the mine clearance is carried out solely by Iran and no other country; in fact, we do not even permit such an action. Agreement between France and Oman

France and Oman are working together to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and will collaborate with their partners to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz, French President Emmanuel Macron announced earlier.

“We have decided to work together, along with our partners, to clear the Strait of mines in order to secure the sea lanes and guarantee free and unconditional passage through the Strait of Hormuz,” Macron said in a post on Platform X following his meeting with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, at the Élysée Palace.

Earlier, Macron welcomed the sultan while once again wearing the same sunglasses that caused a stir at the Davos Forum in January. He did not choose them because of excessive sunlight but because he is once again experiencing “an eye problem,” as sources close to him revealed. The French president did not remove his sunglasses even during the signing ceremony for bilateral agreements inside the presidential palace, with the sultan standing next to him.
