Vogue urges readers to buy Greek (pics)

Solidarity rising for Greeks

Newsroom July 9 04:18

As Greece is on the brink of economic implosion and is seeking to clinch a 12th hour deal with its creditors in the EU, people around the world are trying to display their solidarity to the ordinary Greeks suffering. As Vogue magazine writes, one such example that went viral was a young Englishman named Thom Feeney, who launched a crowd-funding campaign to help raise money for Greece to pay its 1.6 bln euro IMF debt tranche. His goal might not have been reached, however it does underline a sense of desire by every day people across the world to show their solidarity to the plight of the Greek people.  In a similar fashion the magazine outlines some of the most popular Greek products to their readers –sandals, feta cheese, necklaces, and earrings -hoping they can purchase something and contribute to the battered Greek economy.
