Two foreign nationals were arrested for drug trafficking in Omonia and Metaxourgeio as part of coordinated police operations. Indicative of the audacity of the criminal activity is the fact that one of the suspects was using an abandoned building in the Metaxourgeio area as a “hideout.”

Police officers arrested two foreign nationals, aged 45 and 25, during the evening hours of October 6 and 8 in Omonia and Metaxourgeio, respectively. A case file was subsequently drawn up against them by the Omonia Department for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes for violations of legislation on narcotic drugs.

The case began after police authorities received information concerning two men allegedly involved in drug trafficking, using an abandoned building in the Metaxourgeio area and a hotel room in Omonia, respectively, as their bases of operations. The suspects were located and their criminal activity was confirmed.

In the first case, a specialised police team from the Security Group of the Patrols Subdivision placed the abandoned building in the Metaxourgeio area under discreet surveillance during the evening hours of October 6 and arrested the 25-year-old foreign national for drug trafficking.

A search carried out inside the building uncovered and seized the following items, carefully hidden inside a speaker belonging to the 25-year-old:

• 122 grams of heroin,
• 7 grams of crystal methamphetamine,
• a large number of nylon packaging bags, and
• an electronic precision scale.

In the second case, during the evening hours of October 7, 2026, officers from the Patrols Subdivision in the Omonia area deemed the movements of a 45-year-old foreign national travelling on foot suspicious and stopped him for a check. A nylon package containing crystal methamphetamine, ready for distribution, was found in his possession and seized.

During a further police search of a hotel room where the 45-year-old was staying and which he was using as his base of operations, the following items were also found and seized:

• 58 grams of crystal methamphetamine,
• 11 grams of cannabis,
• 3 grams of heroin, and
• 2 electronic precision scales.

The suspects were brought before the competent prosecutor.
