A Palmos Analysis poll published in Greek newspaper “Efimerida ton Syntakton-Newspaper of the Writers” reveals that 73 per cent of Greeks polled want the country to remain in the Eurozone. The data also showed that despite the harsh deal between the Greek government and its EU creditors, the electorate would still choose SYRIZA in the event elections were held. The left wing party leads the conservative main opposition party of New Democracy by 21-percentage point, as 42.5 per cent would vote for SYRIZA compared to 21.5 that would pick New Democracy.

These numbers translate into an absolute majority representation of SYRIZA in parliament with 164 seats. 8 percent said they would vote for Potmami, 6.5 percent for Golden Dawn, PASOK 6 percent, KKE (communist party) would receive 5.5 percent of the vote, while junior coalition party member of ANEL is on the threshold of entering parliament with 3 percent.

On the question of which government is best, 24 per cent replied the current SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government, while an equal percentage chose a unity coalition government of all parties. Only 6 per cent said a government made up of SYRIZA-ND-PASOK and Potami would be best. A interesting point is that the majority (60 per cent) of SYRIZA voters said Greece should keep the Euro as its currency, while 92 per cent of New Democracy voters believed the same. 70 percent of those polled were in favor of a deal with harsh terms, while 24 percent favored default and a return to a national currency.
