Newsroom July 31 10:01

Are you looking for a hidden place? Do you want to swim alone? With almost 14,000-km worth of top-notch beaches, there’s a remote and secluded little sandy spot for you! Here are just some:

Agios Pavlos, Crete

Agios Pavlos is a destination that is off the beaten track. The long sandy beach its azure waters lies some 58 km from the city of Rethymno. Breathtaking sand dunes hide the miles and miles of empty beach area from prying eyes. Due to its remote location and dirt track road there are no bus serves to and from the beach that can only be reached by car. For this reason, you won’t find many tourists. Make sure you pack food with you, unless you are willing to head to the small coastal village a short drive away from the beach that has excellent traditional dishes.

Loulos, Mykonos

Did you think that Mykonos was just a party island created for celebrity watching? Well, if you’re tired of the noise, you can escape to a secret Mykonos that’s far from the madding crowd. The unspoilt Sandy Bay lies at the foot of Kalo Livadi. Just follow the sandy track…

LOULOS

Egremni, Lefkada

The Ionian island of Lefkada is known for its vast beautiful beaches, but Egremni is remote even by the Ionian island’s standards. Located on the southwest point, hidden by chalky cliffs, the tunning beach with its powder white sand and bright blue water are a perfect location to get away from it all. Warning: The steps down the steep cliff are daunting so pack light and take some water with you.

Platia Ammos, Kefalonia

A secluded beach that is 30km west of the main town of Kefalonia is unspoilt and peaceful. The gem of a beach is surrounded by stunning cliffs. Up until a few years ago it was only accessible by boat, but now there are 280 steps chisselled into the cliff side. Near the Monastery of Kipoureon, the sandy coast is a spiritual experience unto itself. Warning: The strong currents do not make this beach an option for weak swimmers.

Giannitsi, Evia

Known as the “eye of the Aegean”, the beach is situated in south Evia, 20 minutes from the more crowded Marmari. it can only be reached by car and is so remote that you need to pack your own umbrella.
