Acropolis Museum celebrates 6 years with spotlight on Samothrace

The Acropolis Museum showcases the prolific ancient heritage of Samothrace, known as the home of the Winged Victory of Samothrace (Nike), a landmark exhibit at the Louvre

The Acropolis Museum turns six on June 20 and is celebrating with the inauguration of the temporary exhibition “Samothrace: Mysteries of the Great Gods”.

The exhibition, held in collaboration with the Antiquity Ephorates of the prefectures of Rhodopi and Evros and the expert of Samothrace antiquities Dimitris Matsas, will open for the public on June 20 and will run through to September 30.

262 artifacts from the Samothrace Archaeological Museum will travel to Athens, with a number of these leaving Samothrace for the first time. Expect to see finds from the archeological excavations at the Necropolis and the sanctuary of the great gods, the ancient settlement and the Minoan-era installation at Mikro Vouni.
