AirAsia QZ8501 black boxes, found

Following yesterday’s discovery of part of the airplane’s tail

Indonesian divers found the black boxes of the AirAsia aircraft, which went down in the Java sea more than a week ago, with 162 people on board, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Transport.

Divers identified the crucial black boxes of the aircraft of AirAsia flight QZ8501, according to a ministry official.

They have not been able to retrieve them yet, however, since they are under the rubble of the aircraft, at the bottom of the sea.

Teams investigating the wreckage of the fateful AirAsia flight which crashed in the Java Sea, Indonesia, yesterday, managed to pull part of the tail of the aircraft to the surface.

Large air balloons were used to surface this piece of the aircraft’s tail – the largest found until now- that was on the seabed at a depth of 30 meters, according to an AFP journalist. The part was placed aboard an Indonesian warship named KRI Banda Aceh, which is taking part in the recovery efforts.
