Greek athlete Antigoni Drisbiotis made history in Munich by winning the gold medal in the 35km race walk, in the European championship held in Germany. The 38-year-old became European champion in the 35km walk on the streets of Munich in the biggest success of her career, finishing in 2:47:00.
At the age of 38 years and 148 days, athlete of Napoleon Kefalopoulos became the oldest runner to win a gold medal in a major event.
Spain’s Raquel Gonzalez finished in second place and the podium was closed with Madaranz from Hungary.
After finishing 4th 25 days ago at the world championships in Oregon, Drisbioti went to Bavaria with the sole aim of marching to the top of Europe.
