Following the recent “casual” appearances of several members of the new government, including Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and FinMin Yanis Varoufakis, who choose to go tieless during meetings with their European counterparts, international media seem to be obsessed with one question: What does leftist SYRIZA have against neckties?

L’Echo, a Belgian financial daily, attempted to answer this burning question with an amusing sketch.

The sketch shows Varoufakis and Tsipras, dressed in red shirts with no ties, pointing at former PM Antonis Samaras, who is being pulled by his blue tie by a huge  – and very scary – Angela Merkel.
