BoG-ECB teleconference call, Greek bank chiefs on standby

Concerns as hundreds of thousands euros have been withdrawn from ATMs since the announcement of a referendum was made

The teleconference between the Bank of Greece and European Central Bank is currently taking place. Sources state that a new teleconference call between the Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras and Greek bankers will take place following this. Crucial decisions may be announced. Community sources state that the new program will not be extended beyond July 1 as the Greek government asked.

A report by Deutsche Bank notes that Europeans are unlikely to approve of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ request for an extension of the ECB program by a few days with the retention of Emergency Liquidity Assistance or a haircut to collaterals.
