Bono may not play the guitar ever again

After his accident in November

Bono shared his fear that he may not be able to play guitar again, in an open letter he wrote, after his serious accident in New York’s Central park last November, while riding a bicycle. U2’s frontman broke his hand in six places and suffered fractures to his eye cavity, the palm and on his shoulder in the “freak accident”, as he wrote, which he had while riding his bike a day after recording for the “Band Aid” single.

The Irish rocker fell from the bike, trying to avoid another bike heading for him. He underwent surgery on his hand and revealed that he now has a titanium shoulder.

“The recovery proved much more difficult than I thought. As I write this to you, it is not yet clear whether or not I will be able to play the guitar again. Of course, the band reminded me that neither U2 nor western civilization depends on whether I can play the guitar”, said the singer jokingly. As he informed everyone, however, he will suffice to composing music and has cancelled all public appearances for the first half of 2015. As for what he learned from his accident? “I learned that I am not an armored vehicle”, he said.
