British envoy on Corfu for the 150th anniversary of the Ionian Islands unity with Greece

Mr. John Kittmer will address two events organised by the British Embassy, at the Asian Art Museum and the Corfu Reading Society

British ambassador John Kittmer arrived to the island of Corfu on Tuesday to represent the UK in the celebrations of the 150 anniversary of the Ionian islands incorporation and unity with Greece.

“I am very happy to visit again the island of Corfu by representing UK in the celebrations of the Ionian islands incorporation with Greece. The passing over of the Ionian island from the British protection and their unity with Greece was held under the spirit of dialogue and through negotiations without political or military disputes. This cordiality continued between the UK and the Ionian islands. The strong bonds that link us are reflected in the British heritage on the islands as well in the Britons’ love for the islands that choose to visit or settle down” said Mr. Kittmer.

The British envoy will address two events in the afternoon organised by the British Embassy at the Asian Art Museum housed in the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George as well as at the Corfu Reading Society.

On Wednesday, John Kittmer will take part in the official celebrations that will be held on Corfu island.
