Eurozone official in Brussels expressed his optimism about the troika returning to Athens before the 8th of December.
The same official emphasized that there is a possibility of a technical extension of the current program and then Greece can apply for a precautionary credit line which Eurogroup will approve.
The main issue in talks between the Troika and the Greek government remains the budget and although the 15th of December is the deadline for EU actions in the Greek program, the contacts of creditors’ representatives with the Greek government are not affected by European deadlines.
According to the same official, Greece must submit as soon as possible a request for extension of the program as time is running out and it is a complex process which sometimes needs the approval of some national parliaments states – members of the eurozone.
