Cheaper heating oil for Greeks this winter

A drop in prices for heating fuel

Heating oil prices are to be lowered at around 85-88 cents per litre kickstarting a warmer winter season that officially begins on October 15, say representatives of the Panhellenic Heating Fuel Distrubitors (POPEK). Providers hope to offer reductions of 13 cents per litre (from 23 cents last year) with the abolition of the heating fuel subsidy. The retail price will be at 75 cents per litre. Heating fuel is significantly cheaper than last year with the starting rate at 1-1.1 euros per liter. The drop is the result of a decline in global oil prices.
