Could Facebook ‘steal’ your face? (video)

Software used in tech companies can model your features nearly perfectly

Face recognition technology is becoming more pervasive in our modern society. Google and Facebook, for example, already use facial recognition software to help users tag you in photos. These kinds of software analyse the points of distance between features on a face, while the use of 3D modeling enables the recognition of faces at various angles. Facebook’s ‘deepface’ technology can identify your face with 97% accuracy, a percentage higher than the FBI! Privacy advocacy groups are concerned about these new technologies because there are currently no laws governing the way they can be used by companies. So next time you post photos on Facebook, it’s good to keep this in mind.
