Cyprus will not send military equipment to Ukraine

Cyprus will only provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine

After his visit to Greece yesterday, Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov will be in Cyprus today, where he will meet with his Cypriot counterpart, Michalis Giorgallas.

Commenting on the meeting, the Cypriot Government Spokesman, Constantinos Letymiotis, emphasised that Nicosia’s will to provide only humanitarian support to Kyiv is clear.

As he mentioned while speaking to RIK, today’s meeting of the Minister of Defense of Cyprus with his Ukrainian counterpart is taking place in the context of the exchange of know-how that Cyprus may have in matters of education and not providing armaments to Ukraine.

Letympiotis reiterated that the Republic of Cyprus has made it clear that it will not contribute any military support to Ukraine since Cyprus cannot under any circumstances remain without equipment.

Cypriot Minister Michalis Giorgallas told Sigma TV that in the last week of April, the first group of Ukrainian experts, personnel who will be trained in demining and demining, is expected to be hosted in Cyprus.
