David Cameron: UK to accept thousands more Syrian refugees

UN refugee agency said the UK would accept 4,000 more Syrian refugees

Prime Minister David Cameron announced during his visit to Lisbon that UK would accept Syrian refugees who come from UN camps bordering Syria, and not from among people already in Europe.

UK has already accepted many refugees from Syria who were forced to leave their country due to the war, but now UK had a “moral responsibility” to help those displaced by the four-year conflict in Syria.

No specific figure has been given but the UN refugee agency said the UK would take a further 4,000 Syrian refugees.
