Dear Santa… Greek kids want jihad, poverty and hunger to stop (read moving letters)

Hellenic Post Chief Eleni Kontou told protothema.gr that last year there were more than 100,000 letters to Santa from the 80,000 mailed in 2013, and this year there are still letters arriving asking for Santa to make kids dreams come true

Every year, Greek Post is inundated by letters to Santa Claus. Hundreds of colorful letters filled with children’s drawings and glitter inundate Greek mail services as children send their letters to Santa. For the last 25 years, the Greek post has been paying special attention to these letters that reflect the times in which they are mailed… and this year was no exception with letters that show that despite the crisis, unemployment and disillusion, young childen have not lost their spontaneity and optimism.

So, Santa, what is it that Greek children want?

For Santa to help the poor…

The first letter to arrive this year asked for PEACE, an end to bullying and jihad and a job for the sender’s dad.

Letters filled with honesty – “I was not a good child at all, but I believe that next year I will be.”
