Deputy Defense Minister Dimitris Vitsas confirmed what Proto Thema news agency revealed regarding the purchase of ten used Chinook transport helicopters from US army stock for 120 million dollars.

Mr. Vitsas trying not to take responsibility for the purchase which was approved by KYSEA (Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence) by a way of circulation , he said that “we are not generals. The general staff decides on their needs and political leadership decides. ”

Although, he did not deny the purchase of 10 helicopters or say anything about whether they have been used in Afghanistan or refer to the approved purchase of 120 million dollars by a way of circulation, he did not hesitate to describe the revelations proved with evidence as ‘nonsense’.
