The Belgian Prime Minister attended the iftar of the Belgian-Turkish organization Fedaction in Antwerp

The Belgian media report a diplomatic incident between Belgium and Turkey.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo attended an iftar (the meal that breaks the fast of Ramadan for Muslims) on March 11 organized by the Belgian-Turkish organization Fedaction in Antwerp.

This organization is affiliated with Fetullah Gulen, the opponent of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which caused a reaction from Ankara.

The Belgian Ambassador to Turkey was summoned for explanations.

De Croo’s office responded that “the participation came after receiving an invitation. The Prime Minister honored the invitation without a political agenda”, said a spokesperson for Alexander De Croo.
