Donald Tusk negative to Tsipras request for EU Summit

Schauble also says no

European Council President Donald Tusk has essentially rejected the proposal by Greek PM Alexis Tsipras for an EU Summit meeting on the Greek issue after the break down of talks between Greece and the Quartet, during a joint press conference with Albanian Premier, Wednesday. Tusk revealed he had a phone contact with Tsipras on Wednesday, but made no reference whatsoever to the Greek PM’s request for EU leaders to meet and discuss the Greek matter. The Polish politician only mentioned the need for a Eurogroup meeting, pinpointing it to the next days.

He also sent the message that a situation of renewed uncertainty for Greece had to be avoided. After his conversation with Tsipras, Tusk said he was convinced more work was need on the part of EU ministers on Greece. Meanwhile, foreign correspondents reported that German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble was also negative to the idea on Tsipras’s request for an EU Summit meeting.
