ECB member warns of chaos in Greece

Christian Noyer: Greece close to catastrophe if deal fails

In a very ominous statement, French central banker ECB board member Christian Noyer warned on Wednesday that Greece was on the verge of catastrophe, if a new bailout deal was not found until next Sunday.

“A deal must be found on Sunday because it will be too late after that and the consequences will be serious,” he told French radio.

Noyer predicted that riots could break out and that the country might descend into chaos.

EC President Jean-Claude Juncker had also warned on Tuesday that European institutions are ready to assist Greece with humanitarian aid in case the outcome of Sunday’s EU-29 Summit does not reach an agreement with Athens’ radical leftists.
